Festival favorite Jimmy LaFave will be performing with his band as will the talented duo Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion. In addition, a special tribute to the music of Woody Guthrie titled Walking Woody’s Road will be performed by Jimmy LaFave, Sarah Lee Guthrie, Johnny Irion, Eliza Gilkyson and Slaid Cleaves. And although we won’t tell you where they’ll be showing up, you can probably count on a special performance by Eliza and Slaid as well! |

| 1/16/12 | Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a brilliant thinker, orator and activist for peace and justice in our country. In this excerpt from his sermon, “Strength to Love,” Dr. King proclaimed: “The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood.” Today our nation honors Dr. King by celebrating the historic changes he affected in our world through his words and actions. The Strawberry Family shares in Dr. King’s desire for justice, peace and brotherhood. We are deeply grateful for his courage and example and continue to draw upon his vast teachings for inspiration. |

| 12/19/11 | It is with deep sadness that we learned today of the passing of our friend, Warren Hellman. Strawberry joins music lovers everywhere who mourn the loss of this giant of a man.
Warren touched the lives of the Strawberry Family in many different ways. Strumming his banjo on the Strawberry stage, together with his band, The Wronglers, his passion for bluegrass music was infectious. Through his own festival, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Warren not only brought great joy to hundreds of thousands of music lovers, but also a much greater level of visibility to the roots and bluegrass music we love and the musicians who perform it.
The many forms in which Warren’s thoughtfulness and generosity were expressed are the stuff of legend. His legacy reminds us all of the power of kindness and its power to enrich our world. Here’s to Warren Hellman, pickin’ and grinnin’ on the celestial stage!
